Baggage

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a printed ticket?
No. Mobile tickets on the Amtrak app or a booking confirmation email with your reservation code are accepted. You can also pick up tickets at station kiosks.
Can I change my seat after boarding?
Generally yes, as long as the new seat isn't reserved. On assigned-seating trains (Acela), ask the conductor for assistance.
Is there a dress code?
No formal dress code. Wear comfortable clothing — layers are recommended as car temperatures can vary.
What happens if I miss my train?
Contact Amtrak immediately. Value and Flexible fares may be modified at no charge. Saver fares are non-refundable but may be changed for a fee.
Can I bring alcohol onboard?
You may bring alcohol but it can only be consumed in private sleeper accommodations, not in coach or public areas. Alcohol purchased from the café/dining car can be consumed in your seat.
How early should I arrive at the station?
Arrive 30 minutes before departure for coach, 45 minutes for sleeper accommodations. For checked baggage, arrive at least 45 minutes early.
